John Toppa

John Toppa is a petroleum landman who lives in Melbourne, Florida and works in oil and gas markets across Texas, traveling to Fort Worth each month. His path to this work was not a straight line, and John does not pretend otherwise. His story is one of a serious fall and a long, honest climb back.

John Toppa grew up in Melbourne, Florida and has been part of Ascension Catholic Church since 1992. He attended Ascension Catholic School from prekindergarten through eighth grade, graduated from Melbourne Central Catholic High School in 2006, and earned a Bachelor of Science in Accounting from Saint Leo University in 2010. He completed his law degree at the University of Florida, Levin College of Law, in 2013.

John began his legal career as a prosecutor and rose to handle felony trials at the Brevard County State Attorney's Office. During those years he developed an addiction to prescription opioids that took his life off course. That period led to serious legal trouble tied to his time as a prosecutor, and he faced the consequences, including time away. He takes full responsibility for the choices he made.

John has never tried to hide this chapter or explain it away. He got clean and has stayed clean since. He found his faith again during that time and put his energy into helping other men better themselves. He came out determined to live differently and to be honest about where he had been.

Starting over in 2022, John rebuilt his career from nothing. He learned the petroleum landman trade, combined it with his legal training, and founded Posterity Land & Title, LLC. His work centers on the detailed rules that govern oil and gas leases, reviewing whether operators have met their obligations and finding value where they have not.

Today John Toppa lives a life shaped by faith, family, and service. He married his wife, Victoria, and they are expecting their first child. He serves on the board of TECUM, a young adult ministry in Melbourne, and he and Victoria are helping bring a classical Catholic high school, the G.K. Chesterton Academy, Mary Star of the Sea, to Brevard County.

John's story is not about pretending the past did not happen. It is about taking responsibility, staying sober, and building something honest in its place.
